Hi Kim and Matt,
Here are a couple of Blog examples that are being used in the Social Studies classroom for class announcements, lessons, assignments, and discussions. You may like to include this in your source.

Room 613 Talk has been renamed and is now the Room 613 Student Blogs site. It is my students' 6th grade social studies weblog. Feel free to link to it as an example of a student centered social studies class weblog.

3-25-06 Hi! Looks like you got a comment from another teacher; cool! I've posted my feedback for you as an audio file: Kim & Matt's Feedback From Demetri. Please be aware it's a fairly large (3 Mb) mp3 audio file, so it may take awhile to download, and you need an audio player to listen to it, such as Windows Media Player or QuickTime installed. If you have any problems or questions, please contact me. Thanks, Demetri
3-25-06 Hey guys, I think you guys did a great job on the social studies section. Half of my teaching assignment is teachign social studies to my sixth grade students and I found several resources that I think would definitely by helpful in my classroom. I really like how you gave the five phases for technology integration. I know this information comes from the book, but the way you have it laid out makes it much more clear and conscise. I will probably link up to this section in my page if that is alright. Your list of links, software, and games is very extensive. Two games I did not see that have been helpful in my classroom that you may want to add are Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego (for geography) and Sim City (for government and politics). You also may want to include simple video into your possible ways to integrate technology. It is definitely a form of low tech, but showing National Geographic Videos or even pulling things from United Streaming to show in your classroom is definetely a good technology tool. You may want to copy this section from my page since I have already written it up, that way you don't have to reinvent the wheel. I also like the website www.mrdowling.com which is where I get much of my social studies resoruces. Just a listing of several middle school leveled passages for nearly every region of the world and every topic covered in the Maryland middle school social studies curriculum. Hope that helps. Thanks for the great site.

3-26-06 Hola Guys! Can't help the Spanish :) I think you did a great job, it is a very comprehensive website... (I have so much work yo do).. anyway I was thinking ... do you do any crosscurricular activities? that would be another possibility to integrate technology. You could have a project in which you integrate social studies and FL or social studies and art. In my school, in order to teach geography, students take a virtual trip to Latinamerican countries, they have to plan a trip, with expenses, places they would like to visit and the plane ticket. they are given a certain amount of money and after their research, the kids do a Powerpoint presentation to the whole class. In spanish we reinforce that by writing a "phrase book" with common phrases that they would need in this trip.
Just a thought!!
